ASSESSMENT OF THE TOURISM POTENTIAL OF THE KHERSON DISTRICT OF THE KHERSON REGION

Abstract

This article is devoted to the evaluation of the natural, recreational and tourism potential of the Kherson district in terms of the features and differences of this territory among other districts of the Kherson region. The natural and recreational areas of the district are described. It is determined that the tourist and recreational potential of the territory is presented by certain unique and interesting objects not only for local residents. The evaluation of nature conservation areas allows us to conclude that the number of objects used in the organization of tourism in the Kherson district is quite limited. The most famous destination is the national natural park Oleshkiv sands. Most of the cultural and historical monuments of the region are located in the Kherson city. Accommodation facilities for tourists are unevenly located and concentrated mainly in the regional center. "Donors" identification of tourism in this region was made using comparison of the requests of potential tourists and the offers of travel operators regarding trips to the Kherson region in the web application "Google Trends". Holidays in the Kherson region are most interesting for residents of Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk region, Vinnytsia region, and Galychina. Tourist routes, including those on the territory of the Kherson district, mainly start from the Kyiv. The most popular tours include such locations as Oleshkiv Sands and Stanislav Landscape Reserve. The administration of towns and villages of the district organizes a solemn celebration of holidays and conducts artistic events that promote the development of event tourism. The combination of the district with the regional center creates favorable urban tourism conditions, which are especially used by local tour organizations, trying to attract tourists by innovative routes and tours building technology. The absence of sea recreational resorts in the Kherson district requires the elaboration of a separate strategy for the development of this territory. This strategy should include ways to support such types of tourism as water, rural green, wine and gastronomic, ecological, historical and cultural, event tourism.
